Systems of the body and their functions- MedPGR

systems of the body

The human body is composed of many parts and these parts combine to make the body systems in the human body. We will discuss different parts of the body and their basic functions.

Organ systems of the body:

These are the organ systems of the body.

  • Circulatory system
  • Nervous system
  • Digestive system
  • Reproductive system
  • Respiratory system
  • Endocrine system
  • Lymphatic system
  • Muscle system
  • Skeletal system
  • Excretory system
  • Urinary system
  • Musculoskeletal system

These are the basic systems of the human body. We will discuss each of them step by step.

Circulatory system:

This is the main system of the body. “The system of the body that circulates to the blood in the whole body with the help of arteries, veins, and capillaries, is called the circulatory system.” The circulatory system is composed of the following parts:

  • Arteries
  • Veins
  • Capillaries
  • Heart

Arteries:

“Those vessels that carry the blood from heart to the body are called Arteries.” These are important blood vessels of the body because they work to carry blood to the whole body. There are some qualities of these blood vessels:

  • They have high blood pressure
  • They don’t have the valve
  • They are deep in the muscles
  • They carry oxygenated blood
  • They have thick walls

There is oxygenated blood in the arteries because they carry the oxygenated blood from the heart that is preciously filtered from the lungs.

Veins:

“Blood vessels that carry blood from the body to the heart are called veins.” Veins are important blood vessels that have the following qualities:

  • They have low blood pressure
  • They have the valve in them.
  • They are more toward the surface
  • They have deoxygenated blood in them.
  • Their wall is thin as compared to arteries.

Veins carry deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart.

Capillaries:

These are the blood vessels that connect arteries to the veins. These vessels supply blood to the tissues. When blood enters the capillaries it is in the form of oxygenated and when it leaves the capillaries it is deoxygenated blood. Because oxygen is transferred to the cells. These vessels have very small sizes.

Nervous system:

The nervous system is an important system of the body that is used for the coordination of the organs. This system receives messages from the body and processes and after that takes action in response to the message. This system includes the following parts:

  • Central nervous system (CNS)
  • Brain
  • Peripheral nervous system (PNS)
  • Neurons/ Nerves

Digestive system:

digestive system

The digestive system is the system of the body that is used for the digestion of the food that we eat in our daily life. This system provides energy to the body that is used to perform different functions in the body and physical activity. This system includes the following parts:

  • Mouth
  • Pharynx
  • Esophagus
  • Stomach
  • Small intestine
  • Large intestine
  • Rectum
  • Anus
  • Necessary gland
  • Taste buds
  • Secretions

Reproductive system:

The reproductive system is the system of the body that is used for the production of germs cells and is responsible for generations. Because it produces sperms in male and eggs in females that after fertilization produces a zygote. Later this zygote is transferred into tissues, organs, organ systems, and ultimately into the individuals. There are two types of the reproductive organ:

  • Male reproductive organ
  • Female reproductive organ

Respiratory system:

The respiratory system is responsible for the gaseous exchange for the body. This system converts deoxygenated blood into oxygenated blood. This oxygenated blood is used for the body to deliver oxygen to the cells of the tissues for functioning. This system includes the following parts:

Nose and Mouth

Pharynx

Larynx

Trachea

Lungs (bronchi and bronchioles)
