In this article we will discuss, what are vitamins, the types of vitamins, the functions of vitamins, the deficiency of vitamins, the prevention of the diseases that occurred due to vitamins, and the daily requirement of vitamins.
 

Vitamins:

Vitamins are organic compounds that are essential nutrients. They are micronutrients that do not yield energy but they enabled the body to use other nutrients eaten. Vitamins must be supplied with your diet. A balanced diet contains all the essential nutrients with vitamins.
 

Types of Vitamins:

There are two types of vitamins that are given below:
  1. Fat soluble vitamins
  2. Water soluble vitamins

Fat soluble Vitamins:

As the definition of fat soluble vitamins is shown from the word itself.

Vitamins that are soluble in fats are called fat soluble vitamins. 

These are the fat soluble vitamins:

  • Vitamins A
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin K

Water soluble Vitamins:

Definition of water soluble is also shown from the word itself.

Vitamins that are soluble in water are called water soluble vitamins. 

These are the water soluble vitamins:

  • All groups of Vitamins B
  • Vitamins C

Vitamins are the micronutrients that are required for our body. If proper vitamins are not eaten then it may lead to serious diseases. There are many diseases that are caused due to misuse or deficiency of vitamins. But the Vitamin E has no deficiency disease yet. There are values for the minimum requirement of vitamins but for a healthy lifestyle, the recommended quantity of vitamins is still suspicious.

Why vitamins are needed?

Vitamins are the most important elements for the normal functioning of the body. They play an important role in the body. Although they are required in small amount but they are necessary to take with diet and naturally they are found in many fruits, vegetables, meat and pulses etc. They are used in many functions of the body during the reactions and formation, and also some times work as a co-factor. Some vitamins are produced in the body and others are required because they are produced in the body are necessary to intake.
 

What happened if we don’t take vitamins?

There some things that are necessary to intake compulsory. Vitamins are one of them so they are compulsory to intake. If some don’t intake the vitamins they cause serious diseases. Sometimes these diseases are such dangerous that they cause death. Here are lists of some vitamins are the related diseases due to the deficiency of that vitamins.
  • Vitamin A deficiency causes night blindness, growth and skin problems
  • Vitamin B deficiency causes beriberi, megaloblastic anemia and many others
  • Vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy
  • Vitamin D deficiency causes the rickets in children and bone broken in the adults
  • Vitamin E deficiency causes the Crohn’s disease, cystic fibrosis, bowel syndrome
  • Vitamin K deficiency causes vitamin k deficiency bleeding VKDB.
